Branden Durst is not an educator. He is not a business person with experience managing people or million dollar budgets. He is a failed politician whose only guiding principle is that he should be in a position of power working to dismantle public education.
Rutledge and Brown recruited and hired Branden Durst who is not only unqualified to be superintendent, but they also have no problem with his work history, personal affiliations, or legal track record.
The State notified the board on Aug. 10 that neither Durst nor new staff in the business office have submitted a background check which is required to be submitted within 5 days of hire. Per the Board of Trustee meeting on Aug. 16, we know that Durst had not submitted a background check. In July, Durst lied to the community claiming that he passed a background check.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT
Durst worked for the Idaho Freedom Foundation (IFF) as an Sr. Educational Policy Analyst. In the video below, Durst acknowledges IFF’s goal to dismantle public education. His job was to develop educational policy in alignment with IFF goals and lobby to implement anti-public education laws.
Review of Durst’s resume shows that, in addition to not having ANY K-12 school experience, he also has very limited business experience. Rutledge and Brown praised him for his business experience. There is nothing on his resume to indicate that he has managed large organizations with numerous employees and multi million dollar budgets anywhere comparable to the scope of WBCSD. It is notable that he held several jobs for less than a year.
